Dear Thomson Families,

It has been quite a time for Boston, Watertown, and the world watching.   It’s now three weeks since the marathon and we are yet, somehow, in the full bloom of spring. Vibrant blue skies and a warm sun have put a shine on the city and with indomitable spirit Boston, and the country, will not be held hostage to fear. Plans are still being made and something as ‘ordinary’ as everyday life will still happen. Let’s celebrate this: We’d love your stories, photos, writings, and thoughts about your family plans this summer…send them along! Do you have amusing traditions, or dive into random excursions? Do you take the summer to relax, or to become more active? Tell me, "What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

Read on, and happy adventuring!

Supporting Boston

Thomson’s offices – and many of its employees – live in Watertown, and we all have friends and clients impacted by this tragedy. There are many ways to show your support and appreciation from bake sales to blood drives; maybe your family has found the thing that speaks to your heart and contributed in a small way. Let us know your story, and we’ll post it on our Facebook page. Here at home I’m looking forward to the Hometown Comfort event May 19. A day of blood donors, 4 hours of family fun, and an adult evening of auctions, food tasting, and entertainment , all to celebrate the first responders, honor the victims, and raise a bundle for the One Fund. If you live in the Boston area, please come join in. To learn more please check out the Facebook page, or email me at moo@familyadventures.com.

World Wildlife Fund and World Youth Day

We want to share this posting from the World Wildlife Fund, seeking young people to participate in a special initiative on faith and environmentalism. They’re looking for youths who feel our responsibility to Mother Earth is based in part in their faith. If this rings true for your children, read on!

Travel Up

Early indicators predict 2013 to be a record year across the board in the travel industry, and we can see the hotels really pushing up their rates for 2014. We’re getting ready to post all of our 2014 dates and prices – but up through Wednesday May 15 you can still guarantee your 2014 adventure at 2013 prices. If you’re a planner, do it now! 800-262-6255

We Won! National Geographic Fifty Tours of a Lifetime

Our Wonders of Turkey: A Smithsonian Family Adventure has taken top honors this year, and for good reason – Turkey is a magic land of culture, art, history, and magnificent landscapes. We have a tiny bit of space left on our July 20th departure, or plan ahead for 2014. Have older kids? Join a 17 to Infinity group to Turkey July 28.

Be sure to come back every so often to see our Photo of the Week. It is always something sure to inspire, or just simply make you feel happy.

I read a small article saying that 40% of all Brits choose the banana as their favorite fruit. If this fascinates you, please read more here. Or maybe you’d rather read a great children’s book by our past guest Katy Koontz. Banana Police is a delightful tale about elephants, bananas, patience and tolerance. Read it with your family today!

Our RIDDLE - and another Super-Smart Genius Award

We’re on a safari, and wondering…. How far can a gazelle run into the Serengeti National Park?

We'll be drawing a name from a TFA hat in five days. If we draw YOUR name and you've answered correctly, you'll win a Super-Smart Genius Award worth $200 off your next Thomson Family Adventure. Please solve this with your brain power, though you are allowed to consult your very clever children. Cheating is not allowed (and I'll know if you do!).

If you haven't taken our travel survey before, click here to take it and save $300 on your next adventure.
