Dear Thomson Families,

August is back to school time for much of the country, and we know this means families turn an eye to this year's vacation calendar.  We have lots of ways to save money, from early booking discounts to large group savings. Our 2011 brochure will be out next month, and right now you can find all of our dates and prices on our website. We're ready to talk travel!

Read on, and happy adventuring!

Photo Contest Winners

... have been announced on our FaceBook page! If you've traveled with us in 2010 and have not yet sent us your favorite photos, you still have time. You can use snail-mail to send us a disc or just email photo attachments to us here.

Thanksgiving Adventures

For those of you looking for new ways to be together with your family traditions, consider an adventure over Thanksgiving week, November 20 - 28. How thankful would you be to bask with sea lions in the Galapagos, crawl inside a pyramid in Egypt, or commune with llamas in Peru with your family? We can offer this to you and your extended family as a private experience, or you can join one of the families that has already booked.

Top Ten Reasons to Book December Travel Now

1: If you book before Labor Day and we'll give you $300 per person savings on any departure leaving December 17 - 22.
2: Memories last longer and bring more satisfaction than things.
3: Give the gift of new experiences: easy shopping and no wrapping.
4: Make your plans now and enjoy the anticipation!
5: Four words - bathing suit in December.
6: Why sit in traffic to Grandma's house when you can take Grandma with you on the trip of a lifetime?
7: Instead of a holiday turkey you can have ugali in Tanzania, ceviche in Peru or gallo pinto in Costa Rica.
8: You want to live A Wonderful Life, not watch it on TV again.
9: You deserve a vacation where someone else does all the work.
10: You want to avoid the madness of the holiday rush.

Is 2011 Your Year to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro?

Join Thomson on a Kilimanjaro Family Trek for ages 12 and up, in December 2010 or June 2011. With 30 years of experience in Tanzania and no middleman between Thomson and the mountain, we employ all Wilderness First Responder guides and expertly trained porters. Enjoy gourmet mountain food and customized accommodations along a route designed for proper acclimation (and to increase your chances of summiting!). Our General Manager Jim Kackley and his son Christian will be going on the June 27th expedition they'd love to have you join them!

It's a Small World, Even in Tanzania

We're used to great safari stories, but this one is really special. Dad Brian had climbed Mount Kilimanjaro about ten years ago, followed by a short safari with our guide Willie, who left a lasting impression. This summer Brian returned to Tanzania for a family safari with his wife and son. As they got off the plane, totally by coincidence, there was Willie to greet them. The family proceeded to have yet another trip of a lifetime with their unforgettable guide.

Our RIDDLE - and Another Super-Smart Genius Award

There is a five-digit number that uses digits from 1-9, with no two digits being identical. Two are prime numbers, two are square numbers, and one is neither. The third digit is twice the fifth, the fourth is six greater than the second and the last is three less than the first. What is it?

We'll be drawing a name from a TFA hat in five days; if we draw YOUR name and you've answered correctly, you'll win a Super-Smart Genius Award worth $200 off your next Thomson Family Adventure. Please solve this with your brain power, though you are allowed to consult your very clever children. Cheating is not allowed (and I'll know if you do!).
