Dear Thomson Families,

It's August, and even though the days are hot there is that little snap in the air that says fall is coming to New England.   Some kids are already back to school: new clothes and notebooks, sharpened pencils, crisp textbooks... Have you felt the panic yet of what to do for winter vacation? Join the flood of people who just this week realized it might be time to plan something. We're ready to hear from you.

Read on, and happy adventuring!

Sawasdee Ka! Where was Moo?

My kids Milo, Mira, and Leo have been traveling with me for almost 15 years and we've had many great adventures together. This summer we joined three other Thomson families for our Beta trip to Thailand, and it was one of the best. Starting with our wonderful guide who embraced us with her enthusiasm and energy the moment we arrived, it was a fabulous adventure with thrills at every turn. We biked and hiked and ziplined and rafted and cooked and rolled in the waterfalls with the elephants.

18 year old Emma says "This was one of the most inspiring experiences I have ever had the chance to participate in. The Thai people were kind and welcoming and shared their world with us. Never have I felt so completely immersed in the culture of a country in my travels. Plus the zipline and rafting were a blast!" We are excited to be offering this dazzling destination! There is still a bit of room left in December - and lots for next summer! Call us now! 800-262-6255

Speaking of Adventurous...

Are you ready for Egypt? We have a family with a 10 year old departing November 18, and holiday space in December too. Our colleagues in Egypt stand ready to take excellent care of you, and this is a great opportunity to see the pyramids with no crowds.

Got Teens?

Families often think if they have teens or 20 somethings they need a specially designated trip for them. The truth is, though, that lots of places simply lend themselves to an older crowd, places like Peru. Yes, it can be fun for a 7 year old, but Peru can be breathtaking for an older teen! We regularly have departures populated by older kids, and not just on the Family Trek. (Sometimes us parents prefer a comfy hotel for sleeping!) Come along December 23, and join a family with 16 and 19 year olds, ready for an adventure.

Freshly Panama

For the last several years Panama has been a big hit for the family reunion groups as well as for small groups of like-minded families looking to travel with other people. It offers wildlife, adventure, beautiful beaches and of course that wonderful feat of engineering, the Panama Canal. We've got a great itinerary for December with white water rafting, ziplining, hiking and snorkeling. As you very well know, your guide is what ultimately makes the trip, and our guides in Panama are among the very best in the world. Have a trip of a lifetime in Panama with a big group of friends and family, or join one of our small group departures.

Fabulous Family

Speaking of reunions, last spring the O'Hare family of 6 — grandparents, adult children and grandchildren — joined a group safari to Tanzania. They saw leopard and lions stalking their prey, cheetah and antelope and hundreds of wildebeest thundering across the Serengeti. They loved the broccoli soup at Gibbs Farm! The families all made friends, and the kids had more than enough to keep them busy. Marion says "I thought I needed 'luxury' but realized this was the way to do it, to be in the middle of the wilderness. It was fantastic, there is nothing more I can say about it. Well done!" If you would like to speak with Marion, or any of our traveling families about their experiences just let us know and we'll put you in touch.
