Dear Thomson Families,

Summer has arrived, school is out and things are buzzing around here.  We are super busy confirming lots of last minute adventures; it's really exciting to still be booking for summer! Jim is just back from Tanzania, Nancy is in Costa Rica, and Aimee leaves soon for Turkey. Life is good!

Read on, and happy adventuring!

Our newest adventure: Baja, and the legend of El Mechudo

Now that we know Baja might be our best adventure ever (ask our references!) it is on our calendar for December 2009, and winter and spring 2010. Hike, kayak, surf, horseback ride, swim with sea lions... and hear the legend of El Mechudo, also known as The Hairy One. Now, I don't want to ruin it, but I hear our guide has a heart stopping rendition of the story of this pearl diver from La Paz. And yes, you will be visiting La Paz; whether El Mechudo will visit you or not, that is another question! Keep in mind, this adventure is fantastic for ages six to... how old is your oldest?

A green idea: our digital brochure

Although I know I could never replace a lovely catalogue to hold in my hand and flip through, it's hard to argue with the ease, convenience, and environmentally friendly approach of our new digital brochure. It's simple to email and share. You can also download it as a PDF file for easy access from your desktop, Blackberry or iPhone. Or your Palm Pre (not that I'm trying to start a smart phone war). Access it here!

The best story - lost and found

We have a fun family from Oregon who traveled with us last summer to Panama. Of course, Linda and the kids had a great time and took lots of pictures along the way. Sadly, in September Linda's husband lost their camera, presumably stolen when he inadvertently left his bag unattended in a neighborhood park. Jump ahead to December, when our office received an email from a guy named Dan. He had spent the last three months trying to locate the owners of a camera he had found in Portland. On the camera were a lot of photos from Panama and a guide wearing a hat that said... Thomson Family Adventures! We had to do some sleuthing on our end to figure out who it might have been, and eventually we put Dan and Linda in touch. Dan refused a reward and even delivered the camera to Linda's office, then slipped back into anonymity. So, if you've lost faith in your fellow human beings, we hope that remembering our hero Dan helps you find it again!

Meet a cool guide in Panama!

Christian, one of our guides in Panama, is also known as Mr. Thomson because he has lead more Thomson Family Adventures tours than he can count. He recently added a Mrs. to his life... and what did these two newlyweds do for their first Christmas and New Year celebrations together? They co-guided a private family of 18 on a Thomson Family Adventure! And while Christian's life may appear to be one long honeymoon, traveling around the beautiful country of Panama, escorting families on adventures that include wildlife viewing, hiking, river rafting, snorkeling and visits to indigenous villages with his bride often working at his side - don't be surprised if you see them honeymooning in some new exotic place. Someday, these two hope to travel the world with their own family.
We already have families on board for Panama departures December 23 and December 26, 2009. Want to join them? Call for more information - 800-262-6255.
