Dear Thomson Families,

Survey says: Over the last five months we have invited families to complete a Travel Survey and over 500 families have participated. It confirms what we hear every day on the phone: travel is an integral part of our lives. Despite the challenges of these economic times, families are still finding ways to fit travel into their schedules and budgets. Almost 70% of the families said they are travelling as much, if not more than, before. It is a valuable way of being together, separate from our busy day-to-day lives. Rather than plopping on a beach somewhere, families continue to seek enrichment together through cultural interactions, community service and learning. Our values exactly!

Read on, and happy adventuring!

Planning last minute

Since we are the family travel specialists, we always pay close attention to what families are up to, and we've cleverly caught on to what your life is like this year - it's all about the last minute! Yes, we still have people calling to reserve for April. So now that it's SPRING it must be time to think about your SUMMER vacation plans. Luckily we're right here with you, ready to make last minute plans happen without a hitch. Here are some adventures with other families who would love to have you join them:
Alaska July 18 with kids ages 10, 14 and 15
China June 13 with five teens ages 12 - 16, or August 8 with six children ages 10 - 13
Costa Rica for Teens June 20 with 12 and 13 year old boys
Costa Rica Art Trip June 20 - join a cool art teacher and a family with an 11 year old girl
Galapagos for Teens June 26 - all boys! Ages 12 - 15 or July 25, ages 15 - 19 (girls included)
Turkey June 27 with six kids 8 - 15 (only 2 spaces available)

Can you say Chichicastenango?

Let us teach you! We are going to run an exciting beta adventure to Guatemala this summer. Explore its magical highlights from the ancient Mayan ruins of Tikal to the forest of Ixpanpajul (try that!) to the Spanish colonial city of Antigua. We'll visit a lively market, see volcanoes, a working coffee farm, a local school, and more. Come discover the vibrant colors and flavors of Guatemala with Thomson Family Adventures. Want to go? Give us your date and we'll do the rest. Panajachel, anyone?

Tanzania gets active

Did you know we are sister company to Thomson Safaris? Thomson Safaris has been running top-rated safaris to Tanzania for almost thirty years. With more wildlife than any other African country, and scores of native tribes living peacefully together, this is the place to go to witness life in the bush. We are prepared to show you the best that Tanzania has to offer while keeping you safe and comfortable along the way. It is a great adventure for all ages! Do you need more action? Try our new active safari, for families with children ages 11 and up. Now you can see outstanding wildlife, immerse yourself in the culture, do some community service - and get some exercise too!

Explore the Galapagos on the Explorer II

We've been sending families to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands for years, and quickly learned what works for families - our winning combination of exploring the Ecuadorian Highlands with a three or four night cruise in the islands. The Explorer II is arguably the nicest boat for families in the Galapagos. With its spacious suite-cabins, good service, wonderful food, and space for your children to move about, it is hands down the winner for families. With fifty cabins, Thomson families share each sailing with other passengers. So why book with Thomson Family Adventures if we're not the only way to get onboard? It's our years of loyal partnership with the Explorer II. Frankly, the preferential treatment you'll receive from her crew is striking enough for us to gain new clients from the other passengers who witness it. Whenever possible, Thomson families have precedence when disembarking for shore excursions. Eat dinner at a "stylish" 8:30 or 9PM? Not you! You, your children, and your grandchildren will all be offered an earlier, more family-friendly dinner hour, with a private briefing for the next day's activities. No, it's not our boat - but yes, you will be treated like it is!

Book 2010 now and save

For those of you who do like planning ahead (you know who you are!), this is the time of year we can offer you a great savings on future travel. Book now for any departure in 2010, and we guarantee the 2009 pricing. We normally offer this deal up through the end of April, but we've worked with our local suppliers to hold off publishing their new rates until the end of May. So give us a call and we'll help you plan your adventure for next year.

Our RIDDLE - and another Super-smart Genius Award!

I went into the woods and got it. I sat down to seek it. I brought it home with me because I couldn't find it. What is it?

Be the FIRST person to answer correctly, and win a Super-smart Genius Award worth $200 off your next Thomson Family Adventure. Please solve this with your brain power, though you are allowed to consult your very clever children. Cheating is not allowed (and I'll know if you do!).
