Dear Thomson Families,

Enjoying your warm days and crisp, chilly mornings?  Are you eating your last few tomatoes and some fresh pesto while you still can? These last hopes of summer linger, but the traffic is thick again, everyone seems back in school, back to work, back to vacation planning. It’s not too late to think about Thanksgiving or December holidays, and it’s not too soon to get going on 2013. The best things do go first, and some trips are already sold out for next summer (like Ecuador for Everyone July 5…), but we’re on it! Great stuff is happening here; just give us a call.

Read on, and happy adventuring!

New Digs

With Thomson continuing to grow — both Thomson Safaris and Thomson Family Adventures — it's come time to cut the apron strings and make more room for everyone. We’ve moved upstairs and left our big sister, Thomson Safaris, to manage the street level by herself. Dubbed "the Treehouse," we love our bright new views (lots of windows!) of Watertown Square. Our address and phones remain the same, but when you visit, you’ll see our shiny new space, with more elbow room for all. Come on by for a tour!

New Apps

What kind of smart phone do you use? We are building some fun apps, and want to know what you would like to see. Let us know!

Alaska 2013

Join us for an extraordinary Thomson event on July 19, 2013 in Alaska onboard the Wilderness Discoverer. Our families will be their own Thomson group within the 76 spaces available onboard the comfortable expedition ship, which is small enough to always be up close to the action. Our expert Thomson mentor/team leader will be ready and equipped with the energy and creativity to help you make the most of your family adventure. Our expert will assist you in navigating the ship, meals, and optional excursions that you need to be signed up for. Every day you have options to kayak, walk, hike, even stand up paddle board or swim (brr)! You'll be a whisper away from glaciers and breaching whales, bald eagles, otters and more. So much to see, do and learn about! It is a wonderful and special way to experience Alaska. So grab your family and make a plan to join us!

Some schools now have breaks for Thanksgiving week, giving families the chance to gather in foreign places and give special thanks for being together. Whether you want to join others or have your own personal and private adventure, we have great possibilities. In Baja you’ll find newly-hatched baby turtles scuttling the beaches as they head to the water. Help them find their way! We also have excitement waiting for you in Costa Rica, Belize and more… Where do you want to go?

Luxury Galapagos, 2013

It’s no secret that our favorite Galapagos boat for families, the Explorer II, has been bought by a super luxury cruise line. What we just learned, however, is that next fall the boat will be completely refurbished to meet their tough standards. This means our Galapagos Islands & Inca Ruins adventure December 21–29, 2013 includes 3 nights on this luxury vessel with all of its bells and whistles, yet at a fraction of its cost. You might never have an opportunity like this again! Looking for the perfect anniversary trip or family reunion? Make your plan now for 2013 — this space just won't last.

Welcome Claudia

Did you know Thomson Family Adventures offers affinity travel too? Affinity travel encompasses special departures for college alumni groups, museums and other special interest organizations — like our new Smithsonian Adventures. We welcome Claudia Dunn, who joins us from Thomson Safaris. She will manage our family programs for affinity groups like Smithsonian, CTY, Duke, Princeton and more. Welcome Claudia!

What’s left to choose from? Plenty! Older kids will love our Galapagos for Teens trip departing December 21, with 3 nights on the mainland and 4 nights on a luxury catamaran. There's hiking, swimming, and snorkeling galore! Curious minds also adore our Smithsonian Peru trip on December 21, with its up-close, hands-on exploration of Inca history and culture. Consider Thailand for December 21, where the temples, the art, the landscape and the elephants will enchant you. In Panama on December 22, you’ll find some of the best beaches, adventure, wildlife, and culture — plus the Panama Canal! Just be in touch to find out what other ages are traveling — we’d love to match you up!

Call, email, or try our online live chat to connect with us. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Our RIDDLE - and another Super-Smart Genius Award

Rick is a keen dog admirer and over the years has had a number of dogs. He has had an Chihuahua, a Dachshund, a Jack Russell terrier and a miniature Schnauzer, but not necessarily in that order. Rick had Jessie first. The Dachshund was an adored pet before the Miniature Schnauzer. Conrad, the Chihuahua, was the second dog Rick loved. Chico was housed before the Jack Russell Terrier and Benson was not a Miniature Schnauzer. Can you tell each of the dogs' name and the order in which Rick had them?

We'll be drawing a name from a TFA hat in five days. If we draw YOUR name and you've answered correctly, you'll win a Super-Smart Genius Award worth $200 off your next Thomson Family Adventure. Please solve this with your brain power, though you are allowed to consult your very clever children. Cheating is not allowed (and I'll know if you do!).

If you haven't taken our travel survey before, click here to take it
and save $300 on your next adventure.
